THIS FOOD PYRAMID IS CAPS LOCK WORTHY AMAZING. Share it. Read it. Study it. Share it again.
I’m so glad it says “Cooked Asian Mushrooms: Unlimited Amounts”. Big love for shitake mushrooms!
Wow. This is… the closest to legitimate food pyramid I’ve ever seen. Replace in “Other Sources of Protein” with straight up quinoa. Please notice how it says 1-2 a week for eggs, yogurt, cheese, meats, and poultry - it’s because they’re awful for you, whereas the vegan sources of protein (the soy and legume sections) are suggested daily.
Then obviously something you’re suggested twice a week can be supplemented for whatever nutritional benefits you’d get (hint hint, I mean the seafood section here).
Veggies 4-5 a day minimum? I’M JUST FUCKING SAYING.
This I like! Especially that the meats and animal products are listed as only a few times a week. I realize we can’t make everyone be vegetarian / vegan, but greatly reducing the suggested amounts of animal proteins vs plant based proteins, etc. seems to be a much healthier alternative to the average omnivore’s diet.

Biggest Loser Trainer Bob Harper is vegan! Rad.
So glad to see that trainer Bob Harper from The Biggest Loser is vegan! It seems that so many personal trainers are into the old-school theory that you need lots of meat in order to get protein. NOT TRUE!!!
There are much healthier methods of getting protein from a plant based diet, without the added fat, cholesterol, etc. from meat. Not to mention the high risk of diseases like cancer, diabetes, heart disease, etc. that is so much more likely with a meat vs plant based diet. Go veg! :)
Anyway, really nice interview here with Bob Harper about some of the benefits of a vegan lifestyle, how he made the transition, etc.
Jillian Michaels, also from The Biggest Loser, is *almost* vegan, too - “I have given up all animal products except for fish that has been ethically fished…” (read the full article here)
I’m definitely happy to see this becoming a more widely accepted lifestyle, especially by health and fitness experts who have such a public platform. I can now officially call myself a transitioning vegan. I was able to quit meat cold turkey - the rest of it is a much slower process, but I’m most definitely seeing and feeling the benefits so far!

Recipe: Oven-Roasted Corn-on-the-Cob
Who knew corn on the cob could taste SO amazingly good that you don’t need to add a single thing to it? I was looking up instructions for Oven-Roasted Corn-on-the-Cob, and happened to find this recipe posted at the Fat Free Vegan Kitchen.
Any other site probably would have had you slather it with butter and salt, but I knew a recipe found here would keep it as healthy as possible. Yes, my husband and daughter added the usual extras with theirs, but I ate mine straight out of the oven (with husk handle and all).
The only changes I made was that I cut off the brown silks at the end, and soaked for 15 minutes before roasting, at the suggestion of some of the comments. I ended up keeping it in the oven for an extra 15 minutes, as well.
Only 77 calories and 1 gram of fat. Easy, healthy AND delish! Enjoy! :)

Great article explaining the environmental benefits of switching to a vegetarian / vegan lifestyle.
Save the earth! Go veg! :D
Earth Day, Every Day: Going Green with Plant-based Cuisine
For those who are serious about making a positive change this Earth day, I suggest that you look no further than your dinner plate. In fact, one of the most effective ways to conserve and protect our environment has to do with the foods we decide to eat. How can I make such a bold statement?
Read the full article to find out how - lots of factual information to back-up the claim, as well as suggestions to ease into a veg*n lifestyle.
